Michael Lauria
Michael Lauria has trained dogs professionally, and managed traditional and cage-free kennels for over 12 years now. Mike started his career working with dogs in 1995, at the Paragon Dog Training Academy in Northboro, Massachusetts.
There he trained dogs for obedience and personal protection, as well as addressing a variety of behavior problems. Mike then moved on to Pet Companions Inc. in Boston, MA; one of the nations very first cage-free boarding and daycare facilities. There he eventually became manager, as well as instructing obedience classes. While in Boston, Mike worked with the North EastAll Retriever Rescue organization, evaluating shelter dogs for their adoption program.
Mike adopted his own golden retriever, Finnegan, during this time. In 2001 Mike and Finnegan moved to Santa Rosa, California.
Mike took a job as manager of Countryside Kennel and Rescue, where he continued working with rescue dogs, as well as teaching obedience classes and working with dogs with aggression issues. While in California, Mike worked along- side Countryside Rescue and The Marin Humane Society, training and placing dogs left homeless by hurricane Katrina. Together, Mike and Finnegan also participated in canine assisted therapy through PAWS FOR HEALING, in Napa.
In 2003, Mike and Finnegan picked up a new family member; Sunny, a year old golden doodle. The three of them moved to Portland early in 2007, where Mike and Anne met, and soon after began working toward establishing their own dog boarding and daycare business.
